Kevin Musyoka
Training a cohort is like coaching under-twelves. Nobody listens on the first day. By the third week they are correcting each other, and that is when you know.

Kevin Musyoka grew up in Machakos and joined the Nairobi centre’s fourth cohort in 2017, after two years of casual work on building sites. He became a senior labeller in 2018, a quality reviewer in 2020, and one of the centre’s trainers in 2022.
He has trained eleven cohorts, around 550 people. Every cohort spends its first three weeks with a trainer in the cohort room on the third floor, learning the tools, the quality system and, he says, “how to sit still for four hours without hating it”.
At weekends he coaches an under-12 football team in Machakos. In October 2026 he travelled to London with Esther Ndirangu to accept the Ethical Supply Chain Award on Rungwell’s behalf, his first time out of Kenya.
His object is his whistle, which he says he has never once used in the cohort room.
